Before the LJ Content Strike/Boycott Begins
The 24 Hour LJ Content Strike/Boycott begins in less than an hour, so I'm signing out of LJ for now.

If you are not participating in the strike, I fully respect your choice. I ask that you respect my choice to strike/boycott by not commenting or replying to any of my entries or comments anywhere on LJ, or clicking on any of my entries or journal pages on LJ until March 22nd.

I don't know if using LJ's message boxes creates statistical use for them or not, so I ask you not to send me an LJ message during this time as well.

If you're participating in the strike, remember that we're not only trying to reduce content to LJ during this time, but reducing the clicks on LJ pages, so don't even peek in at LJ on your browser--you know you can do it! And if you come play on Insanejournal or another journalling service, beware of any links from metafandom posts or others that lead back to LJ and avoid clicking on those. If there's something on LJ you want to copy to another journal site, or that's too long to read in time, download it now.

My flist is divided on the issue - some are doing the strike, some aren't, some don't seem to know what's going on. I was thinking that an interesting follow-up would be to Type lik some noob all dai u know with bad grammer and all (oh, I just can't bring myself to do it . . . ). (Yeah, I'm still on a lot of otc cold meds.)

Maybe I'll find my address book tomorrow and finally get your stuff mailed off to you. :-)

We'll see how it goes--it's an experiment anyway. If it goes well, it will help people to do more effective kind of protests. The cool part has been that it's fostered some dialog between Anglophone LJ and LJ.ru. The bad part is that a faction of Russians hate SUP due to antisemitism rather than because they act like assholes toward their users--I've only seen the tip of the iceberg on that thus far. I think its fortuitous that Becky, who is spearheading this, and me, who wrote the terms for the strike, are both Jewish and that will hopefully quash any antisemitic organizing around our issues with SUP. I wonder if since Becky is pro-staying and working through with SUP, and I'm more fed up and for not paying SUP and migrating as much as possible, if that makes me the bad cop. I wanna get to play the bad cop--that would be fun.(-;

Hope your cold lets up on you soon.
