Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: hopeful

Hello my IJ friends!!!
I'm slowly working on setting up this IJ account. I'd like to move my main base of journalling operations to IJ from LJ, but for the foreseeable future, I see me double-posting to both journals since most of my LJ flist is not planning to migrate yet, and there's a good portion that I doubt will move no matter what changes for the worst LJ makes.

So my next step will be getting my back entries migrated here. I think the only tool for that doesn't work on macs and that [info]mererid made the copies for me.

Then I need to see if Semagic will work for me in double posting all new entries to both journals.

Then I get to put up 100 icons again--yay!!! As soon as I stop being unemployed, I will get a paid account and have huge masses of icons--wheee!!!

Next I want to set up an open source account so I can post to LJ from my IJ account, so I can make IJ my base camp. And posting from my IJ account will remind my LJ fiends that IJ is a happening place, because seeing other people posting from an IJ address did that for me. Then maybe more of them will come and join us here. I'm expecting LJ staff to do more of that persuading for them over time.

Then I need to ask [info]mererid for help in moving all my sockpuppet muses and the Shire community on LJ over to IJ.

I'll continue to use the scrapbook through my Bingo-muse's permanent account on LJ. It would be cool if I could eventually just post here and make my photo's all img-embedded here, because scrapbook uses up LJ bandwidth, but I don't think embedding the pics here gets them advertising clicks--could be wrong.

I've been wanting to start communities for Margaret Cavendish fans, Jewish fen and our allies, and try to get some activity in a Shire community rp group, so I'll do all that on IJ now instead of LJ.

So that's my homemaking plans for this little plot on IJ. If you have recommendations for people or communities here I would like, please let me know.

I have a permanent account over on LJ so will probably keep that no matter what happens but I think I'll be cross posting to IJ now as well for those who decide to migrate over.

Yay!!! I keep getting error pages when trying to load IJ this evening, so I hope that means tons of people are opening IJ accounts right now. From what I saw in the ljspeaks community, I think a lot of people are working on luring their friends over. I think a lot of people miss that loyalty we felt when LJ deserved it and want to blog in a community they feel good about buying into.

Yes, I'm supposed to be staying away from the computer today, but I thought I'd swing by and check out IJ, since a quite a few of my LJ friends have one. I'm still not sure if I'll set one up, but I understand you can post to this from Semagic (good for me). We'll see.

OT - I still have stuff for you, but no address book; expect something in April? Remember it's all sent with the best intentions.

*hugs*

Yay! Hi you! I'll be trying out Semagic soon.

Only if you remember mine is with the best intentions, because how many layers of holidays and bithdays now have I not been getting cards out and the stuff I have for you behind the chair in the goodie bag and you have been mailing to me all along? I used to be better at this, and that's why there is such a stack of cards I have here, a number with you in mind. I'm just so much better at journal commenting for some reason. When I was in my twenties and thirties I was the Date Rememberer and I sent out a lot of cards and presents to friends who didn't do the same, and it's not that giving isn't fun, but equality rules and that means getting back, and I think I've pulled in, which sucks because now I have a friend who sends more than she gets back, and you don't mind a run on sentence now and then, do you? (-; There's a card for you within reach. If the bills go out today, that goes out too, even if I don't write much in it.

*hugshugs*

Thank you! I see she's put up a new tutorial for mac users--I'll give it another look.

Hi, I'd like to add you as a friend here on IJ. I want to meet some new people over here. I've appreciated a lot of your comments in meta discussions and you like hobbits and women and Sofonisba Anguissola. If you'd rather not friend back that's fine, I just wanted to say hello. :)

Hi! Thanks for the friending and I'm happily friending you back. (-: I have seen you around and I was wondering if your LJ name could have to do with the artist--cool.(-: I haven't loaded my Sofonisba icons here yet. )-: "The Chess Game" is one of my favorite paintings of all time--I have an ecstatic post from last year about seeing that painting for my second time by surprise. And yay for hobbity/woman lovin'!

I admit that I hadn't actually heard of Anguissola until after I joined LJ. In college I lived in a dorm named after the early-twentieth-century American activist Sophonisba Breckinridge and admired her and liked her name (without ever learning to spell it correctly). Later I got to like it even more because I thought it sounded slightly Tookish. :) But I do like Anguissola's work and admire her too, and it's always neat to come across the name.

Heeeee! it is highly Tookish sounding. (-: And yeah, I always have to recheck the spelling.
